Program: Spring is in the Air

Enjoy a lively presentation and instructional floral design workshop presented by long-time club members Janet Lucas and Cathy Ritch. Janet is an avid floral designer and currently serves as Artistic Design Chair. Cathy is a National Garden Clubs Master Judge and served for several years as Chair of the Connecticut Flower Show. A limited number of club members will participate hands-on to create a long and low centerpiece. The remaining club members will observe and learn how to create a floral design using the Principles and Elements of Design. A goal is to instill confidence in the art of floral design and encourage creativity.

Design Theme: Rapunzel

A cascade design with an emphasis on a downward rhythmic movement. The downward lines may be curved, straight, zigzag, interrupted, or may be a combination. A minimum of components may extend upward.

Horticulture:

Class A – Early blooming bulb

Class B – Orchid

Class C – Forced branch or forced bulb(s)

Class D − Any other houseplant or specimen
